About 25 employees with Northwestern Mutual spent two hours at Sandbag Central in Fargo this afternoon. Some came as far as Grand Forks and brought along family members.
Workers, dressed in their own flood fighting t-shirts, scooped sand, tied bags, and piled pallets. They're using this event as a team building exercise with the financial planning motto of being proactive, rather than reactive.
“Once we brought it to them, they were really excited about getting out, trying to do something ahead of time rather than waiting and being able to do this as all one big group really made it a lot of fun.”
This is the first time this year the group has volunteered. It hopes to help again if another effort is organized.
