Flooding soaks basements in Belle Prairie

LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (AP) - Spring flooding on the Mississippi River in central Minnesota cause septic systems to back up into basements and prompted the city of Little Falls to shore up the pumping station for its sewer system.

LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (AP) - Spring flooding on the Mississippi River in central Minnesota cause septic systems to back up into basements and prompted the city of Little Falls to shore up the pumping station for its sewer system.

The Morrison County sheriff's office says several ice dams formed on the river near Belle Prairie on Wednesday, caused the water to quickly rise. While there was no significant structural damage, several septic systems backed up into basements.

In nearby Little Falls, the sheriff's office says city officials shut down part of Mississippi Boulevard. Crews there used sand and plastic to protect the pumping station.
