JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - Stutsman County voters in June will decide whether to pay more taxes for road maintenance.
The County Commission has put on the primary ballot a measure calling for a half-cent sales tax and a property tax increase, which together would generate about $1.8 million per year.
Officials estimate that the property tax hike would mean an additional $68 in taxes per year for the owner of a $100,000 home and about $35 more in taxes for an average quarter-section of farm land.
The commission has placed various tax increases on the ballot five times in the last 22 years. All have been rejected.
