FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials say volunteer turnout for flood fighting is steady in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn. — but slow outside the cities.
Cass County volunteer coordinator Chip Ammerman says about 50 people signed up to help with sandbagging in the county, which is affected by the Red, Wild Rice and Sheyenne rivers.
Ammerman says it's the first day of sandbagging operations in the county, which might be a reason for the low turnout. He says Wednesday is going to be a "critical day" for getting people to help.
Ammerman says many residents in the county are worried about overland flooding.
