Curling Nationals coming to Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The premier curling event in the United States will be in North Dakota next year.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The premier curling event in the United States will be in North Dakota next year.

The Urban Plains Center in Fargo will host the 2011 Curling National Championships Feb. 12-19.

Fargo beat out Mankato, Minn.; Fairbanks, Alaska; and New Haven, Conn., for the right to host the top 10 men's and women's curling teams in the country. USA Curling chief operating officer Rick Patzke cited the strong curling tradition in the Fargo area and its "welcoming spirit."

The men's and women's national champions will compete at the World Curling Championships.
