Hoeven and Major General David Spryncynatyk met with Wahpeton's mayor, city engineer and others to talk about what they need.

Wahpeton's mayor says, right now, they're sitting pretty well. They pre-bagged sandbags this weekend, and the dikes will protect the city up to 22 and a half feet. 400-National Guardsmen have been mobilized, to help fight the flood.

“From our perspective, our agencies are responding as communities ask us to be there and that's where we put the resources.”

The North Dakota soldiers will be used in Cass, Barnes, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Steele and Traill Counties. Governor Pawlenty has also activated the Minnesota National guard.
