Flood waters cause trouble for Interstate drivers
(WDAY TV) - Overland flooding is causing headaches for drivers on I-29 heading south of Fargo.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
About eight inches of water is flowing over one lane near the Abercrombie exit. Drivers are slowing down to 15 miles per hour to go through two inches of water in the passing lane. 400 feet of interstate is affected.
A culvert helps drain the water into the median. Authorities expect the problem to remain for at least one more day and worry about people hydroplaning.
“In the median, there’s about 3-feet of cold water, in the ditch, there's about 6 to 8 feet of very cold water, obviously someone is going to get very hurt and hypothermic.”
The Highway Patrol and D-O-T will be on scene 24/7. Similar problems are happening near the Great Bend exit.
