FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Hundreds of high school students in the Fargo area are turning out to help with sandbagging.
The rising Red River was 9 feet over flood stage on Tuesday morning, on its way to an expected Saturday crest of 20 feet above flood stage. Officials have mapped out plans to build clay levees and place sandbags in several neighborhoods.
More than 400,000 sandbags were delivered to Fargo neighborhoods Monday. Mayor Dennis Walaker says he is "eternally grateful" for the sandbagging work by students.
