BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's congressional delegation says the state's Information Technology Department is getting a federal grant of more than $5 million.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's congressional delegation says the state's Information Technology Department is getting a federal grant of more than $5 million.

Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Rep. Earl Pomeroy say the federal stimulus money will be used to improve medical records technology.

The grant is part of a national effort to establish a health information exchange that will improve the quality and efficiency of health care.

The delegation says the exchange will give patients in North Dakota the assurance that no matter where they are treated, their doctor has the best information and can provide the highest quality care.
