ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Attention in Minnesota's ongoing budget fight shifts to the state Supreme Court, where justices are determining if previous cuts were valid.
Gov. Tim Pawlenty is asking the court to uphold $2.7 billion in cuts and payment deferrals that he made last year without the Legislature's approval. The case turns on whether he properly used an executive authority known as unallotment.
The high court took the case on an expedited basis and was holding oral arguments on Monday.
