FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo insurance agent has been sent to prison for violating his probation in a securities case.

District Judge Wickham Corwin has ordered Bruce Hager to serve two and a half years in prison.

Hager pleaded guilty last year to eight felony charges involving the sale of unregistered securities or acting as an unregistered securities agent. He was sentenced to six months of house arrest and 10 years' probation.

Cass County prosecutors say Hager violated his probation by continuing to work in the securities industry and by keeping guns at his business in south Fargo. He's the owner of a financial services company.

Hager's attorney has disputed the charges and says Hager runs a legitimate business.
