Mandan moves on with 81-61 win over Williston

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Mandan advanced to the fifth-place game of the North Dakota girls Class A basketball tournament with an 81-61 victory over Williston on Friday.

Steph Pedersen hit three 3-pointers and 13 of 21 free throws. She finished with 30 points to lead the Braves (11-13). Mic Longtin added 11 points.

The Braves won a game that featured a combined 66 turnovers and 67 free throws. Mandan cashed in on 30 of 44 trips to the free throw line and forced 39 Coyote turnovers.

Williston hit just nine of 23 free throw attempts. Mandan turned the ball over 27 times.

Dani Clarke led Williston (7-17) with 14 points and Trinity LaDue had 11.
