BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota state legislator has been arrested for assaulting his wife for the second time in less than a year.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena (boo-SHE'-nuh) says Dave Weiler's wife called authorities about 9:30 p.m. Thursday and reported that her husband had punched her in the face.
He says Weiler was arrested later. The 44-year-old Weiler did not respond to a call seeking comment.
Weiler last April was given a deferred sentence and probation after he pleaded guilty to pushing his wife, Nicole, to the ground in a store parking lot. He was ordered to get a psychological evaluation and domestic violence offender counseling.
Weiler is a Republican member of the state House. He was first elected in 2000.
