House moving company stalled by soggy conditions
Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - The soggy ground is setting back some important flood preparations in Moorhead.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
The city sold several flood prone homes to a house moving company to make flood protection easier. This house has been waiting on stilts for days, but can't be driven to the relocation site in South Moorhead, because the ground is too wet.
Since the moving process began two weeks ago, just two homes have been moved. The city wants them to take 25, and movers say they'll have to stop once flooding begins.
“We want to move as many as possible. We have to make sure we can get back out there when it's safe to do so, to get these out of the way.”
The Home Movers says they'll need some colder weather and a frozen or at least harder ground.
