Sex assault convict gets more prison time

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A man serving 30 years in prison for multiple sexual assaults in the Grand Forks area has had an extra year added to his sentence because of a pair of failed prison escapes last summer.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A man serving 30 years in prison for multiple sexual assaults in the Grand Forks area has had an extra year added to his sentence because of a pair of failed prison escapes last summer.

Thirty-five-year-old Paul Sambursky pleaded guilty on Thursday to four felony counts related to his July attempts to escape from the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck.

Defense attorney Kent Morrow said the sentence of five years in prison with all but the one year suspended was "reasonable."

Sambursky was convicted of sexual assaults in and around Grand Forks, including on the University of North Dakota campus, in 2001 and 2002. He was a student studying criminal justice at the time.
