(WDAY TV) - A Minnesota senator says changes need to be made to the original health care legislation plan to make it work. Amy Klobuchar says there is parts of Obama’s plan that need to be changed, but that he's done a good job of keeping cost controls in place.

President Obama's new health care legislation was introduced last week. The president says his nearly one trillion dollar proposal combines the best ideas of both Democrats and Republicans.

"If we can keep the costs down and do something about the deficit at the same time I really think it's worth moving and looking at this and trying to get this done."

Obama also came out in support of a controversial legislative maneuver known as reconciliation, which would allow changes to the health care bill to be passed by the Senate with only 51 votes, a bare legislative majority.
