Dog hailed as hero in Sioux Falls fire

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Socks the dog is a hero. Sioux Falls homeowner Steve Erasse says he was asleep when a fire started in his attic Saturday night.

He says his dog woke him up and he was able to get to safety.

Authorities believe electrical wiring was to blame for the blaze, which did not trigger the house's smoke alarms.
