Crews begin tearing down East Hall
(WDAY TV) – Students, faculty, and staff at Mayville State are saying goodbye to an old friend. Crews began tearing down East Hall on the Mayville campus today.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
The building was built in 1917 and was primarily used as a female dorm. East Hall is being demolished to make room for a new safer and more energy-efficient building.
The new 5-million dollar building will hold offices and classrooms. Mayville State's President says it's a positive change.
"There's activity and there is action so it’s kind of the place to be right now. We're grateful for that but it’s exciting to see the progress. We're losing an old friend here but that's the way it had to be."
The demolition should be complete tomorrow and President Hagen hopes the new building will cut down on the school's 720-thousand dollar heating bills.
