Carrington tops Stanley 52-41

The second-ranked Cardinals (23-2) will play top-ranked Beach in Friday's semifinals. Carrington last appeared in the state tournament in 1989-90, losing both times to Beach in the championship game.

Carrington took charge early Thursday by forcing 10 turnovers in the first quarter.

The Blue Jays finished with 22 turnovers. But they still got as close as 47-41 with 2:20 left to play before Carrington pulled away.

Emily Thompson added 11 points for the Cardinals.

Bailey Hornberger led the Blue Jays (20-5) with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
