Dilworth leaders say ND diversion more logical

Dilworth, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Dilworth's Mayor says the Army Corps. is not looking at the "little towns," and only cares about the cost-benefit ratio when it comes to deciding on a diversion.

Chad Olson and the city's administrator talked to a group of more than 100-people tonight at the Dilworth Community Center. Olson says they do not support a Minnesota diversion, because the city could face water contamination in the city's aquifer, and a diversion will stunt the city's growth.

He says a North Dakota diversion is more logical because he says that's where most of the flooding is.

"We've been busy working, you know, lobbying behind the scenes, letting our constituents' voice echo through that room in order to make sure that Dilworth's concerns don't go unnoticed."

The Army Corps. wants to have a diversion or other protection plan decided by April 15th.
