DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A Texas man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering a North Dakota man.
Judge William Herauf on Wednesday approved a plea agreement that 40-year-old Shane Miller reached with prosecutors earlier.
Miller pleaded guilty in January to killing 49-year-old Neal Matejovsky of Dickinson, whose body was found in a field last April. The plea deal calls for him to cooperate with the prosecution of another man charged in the case.
Benjamin Orf is serving 1 1/2 years on a weapons charge. Orf is believed to have been Matejovsky's stepson at one time. Prosecutor Ross Sundeen says he plans to file more charges against Orf.
Authorities have not said where in Texas Miller is from or why he was in North Dakota. He was arrested in Alabama after the killing.
