FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo state legislator is helping monitor the election in Iraq on Sunday.

Republican Bette Grande (GRAN'-dee) is one of nine women nationwide chosen by the National Foundation for Women Legislators to make up a special delegation in conjunction with the State Department.

The group will help oversee the Iraq election and serve as role models for women leaders in that country.

Grande says she thinks it is important that women in Iraq see that they have support from around the world.

Grande has been involved with the National Foundation for Women Legislators since 1997 and previously traveled to Honduras for a trip focusing on economic policy.
