Lisbon bracing for another spring flood
Lisbon, ND (WDAY TV) - Lisbon is bracing for back to back floods, but a lot of unknowns still remain about how it will battle rising water. Leaders have been meeting to make definite preparations.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
The extra time, this year, is helpful in the planning process, but it's also hindering some of those efforts. The town will start to fill sandbags before the Sheyenne River gets too high.
The problem, though, Lisbon doesn't have warehouses to keep bags from freezing, so when filling will start isn't exactly known.
"We don't really have a lot of warm storage like you do in the big cities and stuff, so I'm not positive on that."
Lisbon plans to fill fewer sandbags and use more clay, because of the storage concern. Clay has been lined up for diking. It will come from town property on Highway 27.
