JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — Jamestown Building Official Jim Weight says construction projects in the city this year could double last year's total in terms of dollars, because of flooding that delayed a lot of work.

Weight says building permits for $4 million worth of construction were issued in January alone, and he expects 10 times that amount by the end of March. About $21 million worth of construction happened in Jamestown last year.

Weight says last year, contractors who would have been building in February, March and April worked on flooding instead. The result is the 2009 construction season being carried over into this year.
