BOTTINEAU, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota has two new champion trees.
State Forester Larry Kotchman says a Rocky Mountain-subalpine fir owned by Dennis Roaldson in Jamestown is a new addition to the North Dakota Register of Champion Trees. The register is the official list of the largest and second-largest trees of each native and nonnative species in the state.
Kotchman says the second new champion is a white poplar in a Bowman city park that has overtaken the previous champion, in a park in Fargo.
