Fargo school that flooded prepares for spring

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials at a Fargo school that suffered $1.8 million in flood damage last spring are gearing up for this year's snowmelt.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials at a Fargo school that suffered $1.8 million in flood damage last spring are gearing up for this year's snowmelt.

Oak Grove Lutheran School President Marilyn Guy says officials have taken steps to prevent a repeat, including adding clay and rock fill at one of the two buildings that were inundated by the Red River last year.

Guy says the school feels it is well prepared and does not anticipate flooding. But the school also is preparing for the worst, including putting together an evacuation plan.

The National Weather Service says there is a 1-in-4 chance that the river will reach last year's record levels in Fargo.
