Valley City State men's team claims first conference title in nearly 20 years

The Vikings started this season 1-2 in the DAC before finishing with a 10-4 league mark. In Jeff Kaminsky's five years as head coach, the team never finished worse than 4th and placed as high as 2nd. But conference champs, that's something special and there's a lot of credit to go around.

“It’s not just about us, but also a lot of our former players. We've had some special guys in the program the past five years and are part of this as well and have helped develop our program to the point where we were finally able to get that championship this year.”

“This isn't the end, this is the beginning. We want to win the playoffs so we know we got to win three games. We'll take a few days off to rest and relax and after that, we're going to get back to work.”

Here are the pairings for the DAC men’s tourney which begins Wednesday. Valley City State and Jamestown will both host quarterfinal games, while Mayville will travel to Black Hills St. On the women’s side, Mayville will also go to Black Hills, while Valley will host Dickinson and 2nd seeded Jamestown will host Dakota State.
