How do you sell a house where neighbors are leaving because of flooding and where the city is even paying those neighbors to leave their homes? It's not as hard as you might think.

This sold sign means a new family will move in soon, even though a sign just down the street says a family is leaving because of flooding. Fargo bought several flood prone homes near this house on Southwood Drive, but that's doesn't stop realtors from looking for their own buyers.

Pat Karley of Coldwell Banker says potential buyers are concerned about flooding, but it hasn't stopped properties in this area from drawing a lot of interest. She says this house just one block from the river and annually flooded homes, sold in only 42 days in December, which is typically a slow month.

Arne Kuhn of AM realtors says his listings are also getting a lot of attention from people in and out of state, because of the area's big trees, views and unique houses.

Pat Karley/Coldwell Banker: “I had more traffic through this house than any house I've had. It's just a beautiful setting, and always will be. People have just really still want to live here.”

Karley says the bought out homes are actually a drawing point because those properties may eventually be turned into a park. That recently sold house is not in the preliminary flood plain. Karley did recommend the buyers get in touch with a flood insurance agent.
