BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Monday is the target day for the opening of the Bismarck State College Aquatics and Wellness Center.
Developers are billing the 50,000-square-foot building as the best competitive swim facility between Minneapolis and Seattle.
The center will house a 50-meter Olympic-size pool, a 25-yard program pool, practice area, lap swim areas and program areas. It also will have two 1-meter and two 3-meter diving boards. A 5-meter diving tower will be added later.
The nonprofit Streamline Foundation financed the $9.4 million project. The Bismarck Park District will lease the building for 25 years. The college will pay the park district $300,000 a year to use the center. The primary funding source comes from student fees. The college donated the land for the aquatics center.
