Fargo woman makes Prom a reality for some

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo woman is making prom a reality for some teenagers, by collecting dresses for high school girls, who might not otherwise be able to afford the big event. Today, those lucky girls got to pick out, try on, and take home their dresses; a proud moment for them.

More than 300 dresses were up for grabs at Fargo South High school. Mothers and daughters came from all over the area, trying to find the perfect deal on a prom dress.

The events creator says prom is a night every girl looks forward to. And it should never be stopped because of money; she thought something needed to be done as dress prices continue to get higher.

“I was looking online and they're like 500 dollars.”

Shoppers say coming here they didn't know what to expect, but left dress in hand impressed with the selection they had to choose from. It's now proven, the perfect dress doesn't need a price tag.

It's the first year of the event, but response has been positive, coordinators hope to make it bigger and better next year.
