Emergency services begin to get flood assistance ready
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Being proactive, it's happening all around us as the region faces another flood season.
Even ahead of any emergency, emergency services are getting flood assistance ready to go.
Salvation Army leaders from all over the region gathered here to develop their first 2010 flood plan, starting with what they can do better than in 2009. Business Manager Steve Carbno says they're already in contact with regional groups and backup support from other states.
They're updating the volunteer database, making it more useful and easier to organize volunteers. Carbno says they're already getting food and water stations stocked and ready to go. You may see them parked around the community.
Carbno says the Salvation Army spent millions during the 2009 flood but has replenished them financially because of a successful red kettle campaign over the holiday season.
