Cross Country Snowmobile Racing event in Fargo

(WDAY Sports) - Finally, some of the best snowmobile racers in North America were in Fargo today as the Cross Country Snowmobile Racing Association held an event here.

The association, which has nearly doubled in size the past two years, is based in Minto, North Dakota. It runs weekly from December thru March and includes racers from the upper Midwest, Canada, and as far away as Ohio and Idaho.

The typical course is 10 miles long and the series has something for almost everyone.

“For the serious guys, we have the cash classes. Then for the guys that just want to go out and have fun, we have classes for that too. We basically have a class for everyone, from the juniors at 120 CC's to women to the 30, 40 and 50 plus age group classes.”

The circuit averages about 150 racers a week. Next week, they're out in New York.
