Moorhead native has impressive showing at the Pairs Short Program

(WDAY Sports) - The Olympics are always an exciting time when even non-sports fans have the TV tuned in.

This was especially true for folks around our area, with several athletes competing for team USA that have North Dakota or Minnesota ties.

One of those is Moorhead native Mark Ladwig, who competed in the Pairs Short Program last night with partner Amanda Evora. Ladwig and Evora have been together at a national level for 8 years, but this was their first world or Olympic experience. And boy do they have a right to feel proud!

From their side by side jumps to the throw triple loop and including their lifts, they nailed it.

One announcer said they couldn't have asked for anything more. The duo scored a personal best 57.86, which was 2nd place after 8 groups. They fell to 3rd after the next pair finished and stayed there for awhile. In they end, they finished 10th.
