MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Quarterback Brett Favre is thanking fans on his Web site but giving no clue about whether he'll return.

In a message posted Thursday, Favre says while the season didn't end with a Minnesota Vikings trip to the Super Bowl, "I couldn't have enjoyed this season any more than I did."

Favre says on www.officialbrettfavre.com that when he decided to return to the NFL to play his 19th season, "I did so with some trepidation," but he "couldn't be happier about my decision."

The longtime Green Bay Packers quarterback came out of retirement to join arch-rival Minnesota.

A group of Vikings fans that wants the 40-year-old Favre to return to the team has taken out advertising space on a digital billboard near his home in Hattiesburg, Miss.
