Lisbon voters to decide fate of police department

Lisbon, ND (WDAY TV) - It will go to the polls. Lisbon is asking voters to decide if they should do away with the city's police department and instead contract the sheriff's department.
The council decided to put an "advisory vote" on the primary ballot June 8th. The city could save around 45 thousand dollars by closing the police department and contracting the Sheriff's department to patrol the city.
The sheriff says they would assign someone to be in Lisbon at all times and he would attempt to hire all 3 of the officers with the department.
