Troy Mattern named Bruins head football coach
Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - A year of change continued for the Fargo South football team this afternoon as Troy Mattern was named as the man to replace Kevin Feeney for the Bruins.By: Dom Izzo, WDAY
He's been an assistant with the Bruins for the past six seasons, with his duties ranging from linebackers to wide receivers.
Now with Davies High School starting varsity football next year, he knows it's going to change how his team will look next season.
“With numbers, we're going to be a little shorter. It's going to give more kids opportunities. In the past, we haven't had many kids play both ways, so depth is going to be a concern, but it's a challenge that we're excited for. More kids will be on the field to play both ways, which is exciting for them as well.
Coach Mattern says he still has to hire a couple of more assistants to fill out his staff.
