Former Meritcare CEO is honored
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - You might not know this, but today is Dr. Roger Gilbertson day in Fargo as proclaimed by Mayor Walaker.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
The former C-E-O of Meritcare was honored during a retirement celebration at the Radisson. Sanford Health-Meritcare and University of North Dakota foundation announced the establishment of the Doctor Gilbertson endowed chair of neurology.
The 1.5 million dollar gift will help develop student projects at the U-N-D School of Medicine and Health sciences.
“It's hard to absorb really because you just don't expect these things. If people expected them, I suppose maybe, but I did not expect anything even close to this.”
Gilbertson lead Meritcare for 17 years and pushed for the merger with Sanford Health before retiring last year.
