Food warehouse roof in Fargo collapses
FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Authorities say snow and ice buildup led to roof collapses at a large food warehouse in Fargo. Fire Department Capt. Mike Hendrickson says no one was hurt in the collapses late Monday and early Tuesday.
Hendrickson says a 100-by-100-foot section of the Sysco Food Service roof collapsed just after 10 p.m. Monday, breaking the sprinkler system and flooding parts of the building. Damage was estimated at about $300,000.
Hendrickson says the roof section landed on some heavy metal racks. About 7 a.m. Tuesday, a 50-by-100-foot section broke off and plunged all the way to the floor.
The collapse shut down operations at the warehouse, which serves clients in North Dakota, northwest Minnesota and northern South Dakota. A company official says Sysco is working to deliver products to those customers from Sysco Foods facilities in Minnesota, Montana and Nebraska.
