Private school rivals to slug it out

(WDAY Sports) - The boy’s basketball rivalry between Oak Grove and Park Christian has enjoyed some highlight moments, but they might be breaking new ground tomorrow.

The teams are a combined 24-1 and both have serious shots at winning state titles. There has been private school parity, if you will, in the last five years.

Park has won 3, Oak Grove 2; none of the wins was by more than 12 points and twice it was decided by just 3 points and if you needed anything else, the schools co-op for football in the fall.

“Even though it has nothing to do with how playoffs will go, this is one of the top games we look forward to playing all year because of the relationships that we have with the players at Oak Grove.”

“It'll give us a lot of confidence. Park Christian is one of the tougher teams that we'll play this year and with a win like that it proves that we can play with a lot of teams in the state.”

This series is about as even as you get. The Grovers are 10-0, the Falcons 14-1. Oak Grove ranked third in North Dakota class B, Park number five in class A. Each averages nearly the same amount of points.
