LISBON, N.D. (AP) — The southeastern North Dakota town of Lisbon might do away with its police department. The City Council in the community of 2,200 people is considering contracting with the Ransom County Sheriff's Department instead. City officials say that could save $40,000 a year.
LISBON, N.D. (AP) — The southeastern North Dakota town of Lisbon might do away with its police department.
The City Council in the community of 2,200 people is considering contracting with the Ransom County Sheriff's Department instead. City officials say that could save $40,000 a year.
However, many who attended a recent public meeting were in favor of keeping the city's police force, which includes the chief and two officers.
The council is expected to discuss the matter at its meeting on Monday.
