Moorhead non-profit collects supplies for earthquake victims

Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A Moorhead non-profit group is playing a key role in trying to supply a busy hospital in Haiti with much needed surgical supplies.

HERO has often worked with supplying the Fargo-Moorhead medical team that travels to Haiti every year. Now, HERO is collecting pallets of supplies that can help the hospital in Pignon, Haiti, that has become a go-to hospital for earthquake victims, nearly a hundred so far.

It is the same hospital the Fargo-Moorhead medical team works out of and equips with surgical supplies year round.

“It reaffirms why we live here in the Midwest and we are humanitarians and we care about developing countries and when there is a world wide disaster it is great to see individuals come in a help.”

HERO has the supplies ready to ship. It is hoping a local trucking company or donor can help get the supplies from Moorhead to Florida, where a missionary plane will fly it to Haiti. Contact HERO in Moorhead at 284-6111.
