WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — Two Wahpeton-area mission workers who survived the Haiti earthquake have returned home.
Wahpeton nurse Brenda Marzigliano and Georgia Dufault, a former Breckenridge, Minn., resident who now works in Moorhead, were stationed at a hospital about 80 miles north of Port-au-Prince when the quake hit.
Dufault and Marzigliano (mar-ZIG'-lee-AWN'-oh) helped treat more than two dozen patients before being evacuated last Friday. They say the evacuation involved treacherous bus rides through the mountains to the neighboring Dominican Republic and then a flight to Miami.
Dufault says they feel "extremely blessed."
