RED WING, Minn. (AP) — A Cannon Falls man accused of poaching a world-class whitetail deer on Halloween night has pleaded not guilty to three new counts.

Appearing Thursday before Goodhue County Judge Thomas Bibus, Troy Alan Reinke also asked, through his attorney, to have his hunting jacket tested for gunpowder residue to help prove he did not shoot the deer with a firearm. The judge agreed.

The 32-year-old Reinke is accused of illegally killing and possessing a trophy buck that had the highest-scoring eight-point antlers ever measured by the Pope and Young or Boone and Crockett methods.

He pleaded not guilty to the original 13 charges last month. He declined to comment to reporters Thursday. He has claimed he found the buck already dead.
