BUFFALO, N.D. (AP) — The Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in southeast North Dakota.

Authorities say 81-year-old Margaret Gwyther of Bismarck was a passenger in a pickup truck that crossed the median just after midnight Wednesday, rolled and landed upright in the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by a car.

Two more cars and a semi pulling a double-trailer then plowed into the wreckage. The interstate had to be closed at the spot and traffic rerouted while the mess was cleaned up.

Seven other people suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The patrol says the interstate was slick with frost at the time of the crash.
