Police on the lookout for "peephole" drivers
(WDAY TV) - We've all done it. In a hurry, we barely scrape our windshield before taking off. Police are now keeping their eyes peeled for peephole drivers. This is what it means to be a peephole driver. Clearing only enough snow to see directly ahead of you which police say is not enough.By: Kelsey Soby, WDAY

“I’ve seen what looks like cleared with a credit card.”
State law requires you to keep your front and side windows obstruction free, but Sgt. Joe Anderson recommends snow free windows all around. He says police will not hesitate to pull over so-called peephole drivers. Ask them to clear their car, and possibly issue a citation.
“I don’t think people realize the substantial risk”
He says snow simply creates more blind spots. Check it out, if I want to change lanes, even if I glance over my shoulder, I still can't tell if there's a car next to me.
Anderson says he sees more peep-hole drivers around the city than on interstates, but either place, he says the snowy windows make it more likely you'll get in an accident and possibly hurt yourself or someone else. And don't forget the sneaky hood snow which can blow up and obstruct your view even if you've cleared your windshield. The best thing you can do to avoid that is to clear this snow as well.
