Klobuchar meets troops in AfghanistanMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar met with Minnesota troops in Afghanistan on Sunday to thank them for their service.
She also met with U.S. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the commander in Afghanistan, and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
Klobuchar said she was honored to meet with Minnesota troops at Bagram Air Field, and she's encouraged by their spirit.
She also says she remains concerned about the strength of the Afghan government. She says there is still much work to be done.
Klobuchar says that in her meetings she stressed that America's commitment would not be open-ended and that significant progress in Afghanistan's government and economy need to be made.
Klobuchar traveled to Afghanistan as part of a bipartisan Senate delegation.
