GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his car ran into a state trooper's vehicle in Grand Forks.

Police say Glenn Abraham of Emerado drove his Oldsmobile into Trooper Matt Denault's patrol vehicle a little after 8 Friday morning as Denault waited at a traffic light.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Aaron Hummel says Abraham was leaving town after a night of partying in Grand Forks. Hummel says liquor was found in Abraham's car.

The sergeant says Grand Forks police are handling the case so the patrol can avoid any conflict of interest.

A jail spokesman says Abraham remains in custody on several charges, including drunken driving. He's expected to be in court on Monday.
