MSUM students receives the 2009 Minnesota Sheriff's Association scholarship

(WDAY TV) - An area student now has some financial help on his road to becoming a police officer. Today, Brent Halverson from Barnesville was given the 2009 Minnesota Sheriff's Association scholarship.
He's one of 14 people across Minnesota awarded with the scholarship. Halverson is a student at MSUM and hoping to one day serve and protect as an area officer.
“I've wanted to do it since I was in like 8th or 9th grade. I don't know what drew me to it, it's just what I want to do and it's never changed.”
Halverson graduates from MSUM next year, and hopes to get a job here in the metro.
