(WDAY TV) - There's good news for Nokomis child care center in Fargo. Nearly all of the money the center needs to stay open, has been raised.

Nokomis had a budget gap of 170 thousand dollars, but thanks to community support, the center now only needs about 60 thousand dollars. It's been a tough year for Nokomis; it shut down for a week during the flood.

On top of that, the soft economy has hurt business. Workers at the center say they're grateful for the community's support, but aren't surprised by it.

“We don't tend to do this very often. We're not an organization that thinks from crisis to crisis, but given the realities of what we're dealing with, we kind of assumed that the community would step forward, and they have.”

The rest of the money has to be raised by December 31st, so Nokomis still needs a little help, and quickly.
