(WDAY TV) - Zoo workers in Bismarck say any time they can put a bird back in the wild, it's a good day. That's what's happening to this golden eagle.

It's been rehabilitating at the zoo since early December after someone found it near Bowman. Veterinarians had to warm it up inside for a few days, and check it for disease or broken bones.

They think it maybe had a muscle injury or was too sore to fly. The extremely wild bird has been rehabilitating ever since and workers say it's time to get it back where it came from.

"This one will hopefully just fly off, catch a good wind, and be gone and become familiar with everything. For me it's just, it's hard to describe, it's a good feeling. You go home with a good feeling that day; it's one of the benefits of working at the zoo and working with wildlife."

The zoo rehabilitates eagles and other raptors through the U-S Fish and Wildlife services. They will release the bird tomorrow in the Bowman area.
